Signs your drain is getting blocked and how we fix them

Blockages don't happen overnight. If you notice any of these signs, act before it blocks completely.

• Water drains slowly: In the sink, shower or basin. Grease, hair and limescale build up in the trap.
• Gurgling noises: Sounds when water drains: air is trapped because the pipe is half blocked.
• Sewer smell: Waste rotting in the pipe or a dry trap. Air freshener won't fix it.
• Water comes up the shower: If water backs up when you use the basin or washing machine, the blockage is further down, in the downpipe.
• Stop pouring chemical drain cleaner: Caustic soda and strong drain cleaners damage old pipes and seals, and often just punch a hole through the blockage. Cleared by machine, it lasts.

Plumbing FAQs

Not sure what to ask a plumber? These are the questions worth asking before any work starts.

• How much does drain clearing cost?

From €59 labour for sinks, basins, showers and toilets. Shared downpipes from €99. We confirm the full price before starting.

• How soon will you call me?

As soon as possible. If it's very urgent, call us directly on 936 94 01 09.

• What if I don't like the price?

That's fine: if you don't accept it, no work starts. If there's a call-out fee, we tell you on the call, before anyone comes.

• Will you need to break anything?

Almost never. We clear it by machine from the trap or the access point. If needed, we check the pipe with a camera before touching anything.

• What if the blockage is in the building's downpipe?

We check it with you and, if it's a shared pipe, we speak to the residents' association or building manager.

• Who comes to my home?

A professional plumber from a local company that works with us. They give you the price, do the job and hand you the invoice with the guarantee.

• What do you use my details for?

Only to call you and pass your request to a plumbing company in your area. We don't sell them or send you advertising.
